Nike's Black History Month Collection

In honor of February being Black History Month, Nike is celebrating with a collection of footwear and apparel that pays homage to achievements and pioneering spirit of three important sports teams that achieved greatness that still continues to inspire: the 1996 USA Basketball Women's team, 2002 Brazil Men’s Soccer team, and the 2008 Kenyan Long-Distance running team.

The designers at Nike developed a signature graphic and colors that was inspired by vibrant colors of African culture and taking cues from Kenyan beads, Brazilian Carnivale and African-American quilt-making.

The 2012 Nike Black History Month collection will feature the Zoom KD IV, Kobe VII System Supreme and LeBron 9 from Nike Basketball. On the Nike Sportswear side, there will be: Air Force 1, Air Max 1, Blazer and 2012 Huarache Free. On the apparel end, there will be a Destroyer Jacket, T-Shirt and snapback hat. As part of the celebration, Nike will also be making a financial contribution to Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

The Nike Black History Month Collection will be available at select retailers this month and at NikeStore.com beginning February 11.
